Macon Touchdown Club Officers for 2021

I had the pleasure of working with this group of Officers this year. I wanted to say a big Thank You for all that you do for the Macon Touchdown Club.

High School Football Play-off Results for November 26th

Northeast High School lost a heartbreaker in Double Overtime to Swainsboro, Central Fellowship Christian Academy has won Back to Back State Championships, and Covenant Academy won the State Championship.
Congratulations to all the local High School teams on their seasons. It is hard to believe that it is over already.

We are very fortunate to have two local stations that cover our local high schools. Both have a Friday night show, with scores and highlights.
The End Zone on WMGT, airs every Friday night at 11:15PM.

Mark Schlabach speaker for November 29th

Mark Schlabach  graduated from the University of Georgia, Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. He covered SEC football, and various sports along with  the University of Georgia for nine years as a journalist for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He was a columnist for the Washington Post for two years covering college football and basketball.

Mark is an accomplished author, writing almost a dozen books including the New York Times best seller, Called to Coach: Reflections on Life, Faith, and Football. He also collaborated on several books about the Duck Commander Family. Mark also co-authored the book, Heisman, The Man Behind the Trophy. He now resides in Madison, Georgia with his wife and three children.

The Macon Touchdown Club, OrthoGeorgia Players of the Week, for the Week of November 19th

OrthoGeorgia Co-Back of the Week: Travion Solomon, Senior Quarterback, Northeast High School. Travion completed 17 of 24 passes for 254 yards, and 1 Touchdown. He also rushed 13 times for 72 yards and a Touchdown in his team’s 26-20 Win over Haralson County.

 

OrthoGeorgia Co-Back of the Week: John Alan Richter, Senior Quarterback, Jones County High School. John Alan completed 29 of 36 attempts for 347 yards and 3 Touchdowns. He also rushed 5 times for 29 yards and 2 Touchdowns in his team’s 66-42 Win over Eastside.

 

OrthoGeorgia Lineman of the Week: Cadricus Stanley, Junior Nose Tackle, Northeast High School. Cadricus accounted for 9 tackles and 2 tackles for loss in his team’s 26-20 Win over Haralson County.

 

OrthoGeorgia Special Teams Player of the Week: Evan West, Senior Kicker/Punter, Jones County High School. On the night, Evan had a 54 yard punt, a 45 yard Field Goal, 2 kickoffs for touchbacks, and 9 PAT’s. He was 3 for 3 on onside kicks in the game, recovering 2 himself, and had a touchdown saving tackle on a Kickoff. On the night, Evan accounted for 341 kicking yards in his team’s 66-42 Win over Eastside.

We had Brian Jordan with us tonight, and it was a great night. A two sport athlete in college, followed by a two sport Pro athlete. Brian had a great career in MLB, but also has 3 great years in the NFL. Brian has a personality that draws you to him. A great night at the Macon Touchdown Club.

The Macon Touchdown Club, OrthoGeorgia Players of the Week, for the Week of November 12th

OrthoGeorgia Co-Back of the Week: Travion Solomon, Senior Quarterback, Northeast High School. Travion completed 15 of 19 passes for 227 yards and 2 Touchdowns. He also rushed 6 times for 116 yards and 2 Touchdowns in his team’s 42-22 playoff Win over Cook.

 

OrthoGeorgia Co-Back of the Week: John Alan Richter, Senior Quarterback, Jones County High School. John Alan went 22 of 26 passing for 270 yards and 3 Touchdowns. He also rushed for a 15-yard Touchdown run in his team’s playoff Win over Griffin.

 

OrthoGeorgia Lineman of the Week: Camden Smith, Offensive Guard, First Presbyterian Day School. Cameron graded out at 91% and had 7 pancake blocks on the night, in his team’s 21-14 playoff Win over Aquinas.

All I can say is, if you missed the Macon Touchdown Club meeting tonight, it was your loss. We had the pleasure of not one, but two great speakers with us. Terry Harvin, former kicker and National Champion at Georgia Southern. and current General Manager of Georgia Southern Properties, was with us. We also had the pleasure of having Coach Clay Helton, new Head Coach at Georgia Southern with us.

Brian Jordon is speaker for November 22

Mr. Jordan is a two-sport professional athlete, who began his MLB debut in 1992 and football in 1989. He has played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves as well as the Dodgers and Rangers in the 15 seasons he played in the big leagues. He was named a National League All-star in 1999. Jordan began playing professional football with the Atlanta Falcons while still playing baseball for the Cardinals. In total, he played 36 NFL games, spanning three seasons and finished with five interceptions and recovered four fumbles. He played all 16 games for the Falcons in the 1990 and 1991 seasons. In 1998, he founded the Brian Jordan Foundation, a three-core program which includes literacy, health/fitness and scholarship which helps children reach their full potential in life. Not only is he an analyst for Fox Sports South, he is an author and a highly sought after speaker.

Breaking News for Monday Night, November 15th Meeting

Breaking News for the Macon Touchdown Club.
Next Monday night, November 15th, the Macon Touchdown Club will have the pleasure of having Coach Clay Helton, the new Head Football Coach at Georgia Southern University as our Feature Speaker.
Terry Harvin will bring him over, and introduce him to the club.
