11th Annual Boston Butt Sale To Support the Bobby Sanders Memorial Scholarships

The Macon Touchdown Club is having our 11th Annual Boston Butt Sale. The price of the tickets are $40.00.
We will use the same process as we did last year. Welch’s Country Smokehouse, located at 1687 Bass Road, will be preparing the Boston Butts. All you will need to do is, call Welch’s 24 hours in advance, 48 hours during the Holidays, and let them know when you will making your pick-up. They will have your Boston Butt ready for you to pick-up and enjoy. The tickets for this sale will be good from the day that you purchase, to January 31, 2022.
The proceeds benefit the Bobby Sanders Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Macon Touchdown Club. Each year the Macon Touchdown Club awards these scholarships to high school seniors. Started in 1987, the Macon Touchdown Club has awarded over $372,000 in scholarships.
Tickets are available through any of the Macon Touchdown Club members.

August 22, 2020 Update Regarding Seating Configuration For Meetings

Monday night, September 14th, 6:30PM, is getting closer and closer every day. I am looking forward to seeing everyone, and I know all of you are excited for the 75th year of the Macon Touchdown Club.

Just wanted to give you a visual of what the seating will look like this year. Instead of round tables with 8 members at each table, we will have a different look. It will be more like a classroom setup. See picture for what this will look like.

Something to consider, if you have a group of members that you like sitting with, you might consider sitting on multiple rows, within the same area of the room. That will enable you to have those conversations where you solve the world’s problems, or discuss which team to pick in the Bland Roofing Guessing Game.

If you haven’t received your membership renewal yet, please let us know.

Macon Touchdown Club Update For August 19, 2020

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on September 14th.

All members should have received their renewal application last week. If you did not receive it, please let me or Garland know.

We are working with Lonnie Bivins at The Methodist Home for Children, to provide a safe environment for our members, guests, and speakers.

For now, it looks like there will be a few changes. This list could change as the year goes along. Please be flexible if changes have to be made.
(1) Masks will be required when entering the building, and will be required until everyone comes in and we are all seated at a table. Masks can be removed after everyone is seated. Masks will be put back on when you get up to get your food. Masks will be put back on when the meeting is over and we are exiting the building.
(2) The Methodist Home will have someone at the doors to check temperatures, and to keep a count on the number of people in the building.
(3) The elevator will only be accessible to Members or Guests that are Handicapped, or require the use of the elevator. All other Members or Guests should use the door on the lower level.
(4) We will not be using our name badges this year.
(5) Table seating will be more like classroom seating, with rectangular tables, instead of the round tables. This will enable us to Social Distance.
(6) The Methodist Home for Children will be putting the food on our plates while we go through the food line, instead of us serving ourselves.
(7) There will be markings on the floor as a reminder to social distance while in the food serving line.
(8) This will be a hard one, but at the end of the meeting, we will have to make an effort to not crowd around the speaker or other members.

Mike Parker has offered to have SP Design Group provide masks for anyone that will need one. They will be available at the door of the first meeting.

Thank You for being a member of the Macon Touchdown Club.

July 2020 Update

Hello Fellow Macon Touchdown Club Members,

I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. These last three months have been very trying times for all of us. The COVID-19 Pandemic has caused all of us to make tremendous changes in our day to day lives. Here in Georgia, businesses are opening back up, and people are going back to work. Hopefully, within some time, things will get back to normal, and we will be able to look forward to High School and College Football.

The Officers and Directors of the Macon Touchdown Club are working out details and trying to determine what our meetings will look like in the Fall. We are working with Lonnie at the Methodist Home for Children, to provide a safe environment for our meetings. Our first meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 14th, with Mark Schlabach, as our first speaker of the year. We are looking forward to a great list of speakers, in what will be the 75th Year of the Macon Touchdown Club.

The Macon Touchdown Club Middle Georgia Kick-off Classic is scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd, and we will be asking for volunteers to assist at the game.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in a few months.

Stay Safe, and we will have more communication in the coming weeks.
