Head Football Coach

Motivator. Disciplinarian. Innovator. Relentless. These are some of the ways Andy McCollum has been described during his short tenure as Head Coach at Middle Tennessee. Known for his exciting and unpredictable play, McCollum has compiled a mark of 21-24 in his four years at the helm of the Blue Raider football program.

McCollum, the 2000 and 2001 Tennessee Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year, is coming off a 4-8 season that saw him face the toughest schedule in school history, while being challenged with the most injuries he has encountered during his four years. But through it all, McCollum coached seven all-conference performers, including candidates for the Heisman Trophy, Outland Trophy, and the Ray Guy award, while defeating a team from the SEC for the second straight year.

The energetic McCollum guided the Blue Raiders to an incredible 2001 campaign that saw the team win eight games, grab a share of the Sun Belt Conference championship, set 46 team and individual records, and defeat a team from the SEC.

In just four years as head coach, McCollum has won a league championship, produced the conference player of the year and offensive player of the year, had a freshman All-American, and placed 10 athletes on the first team all-conference squad. If that isn't impressive enough, the hard-working McCollum has also developed back-to-back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers, the nation's completion percentage leader (2001), and the country's No. 2 (2001) and No. 3 (2000) scorers.
